block number???

I found another chevy 350 and all i know is that it has 4 bolt mains.( poss. early 70's, late 60's)
On the block I found a number reading 014 on the farthest side, then about a half a foot to the right another set of digits reading
T0105ORE The O is in bold because it was really badly stamped at the factory and looked like it could possibly read a 2, 6, 8, 0, or S.
Does anyone know any info about the engine just from the number given?

Yeah, it's not 60s, it's mid-late 70s. Very typical 350. Most likely out of some truck, if in fact it really has 4-bolt mains; probably one of those smogger 175 HP wonders the world was blessed with back then.

From the numbers you gave, I can tell it came with a 4.000" bore.

There's nothing special about it at all. Evaluate it based on its condition, not whether some sort of special magic properties emanated from whatever sheet metal or fiberglass it was originally wrapped in and permeated the cast iron. Any spiritual benefits have long since worn off, and it's now merely an ordinary 350 block.

He is on the money Matt. Look on the driverside of the block right at the back by where the head goes on. There is another # there. Here is a pic where it is. Post these # or match them here.

ill try to give you the other code and hopefully the first one was smuggy and the wrong one, but if it still identifies itself as the same one , do you know anything else about it?

If built right, any SBC can handle 6000rpm sure. But you'll need to use quality parts that can handle that type of RPM, I would suggest Eagle crank and rod to give you the strength you need, then you will also have to have the proper cam thats power band is in that range, and heads, lifter, rockers, and valve springs to boot.

ok thanks for input. The 350 will be totally rebuilt and will have all new bearings, i was just wondering if the STOCK crank wouldnt fail me at 5500-6000.

Well the stock crank can go to 6000rpm, but the HP may kill it.

Just a good GM forged crank and rods is all you need to handle 6000 rpm. Most high performance SBCs like the old L79, L82 and LT1 were good to 6000 at least, and they had forged cranks.

got new numbers

ok I checked the block again and i got many new numbers.
-Above where the flexplate mounts and near where the head would go is : GM 3970014
-Underneath cam seal is : 024..(space)13.....(larger space)...014
-At the front of engine where balancer is, to the left of it before the pasenger side cyl. head it says : T01O5ORE
-On the crankshaft there is : GM 1 3932442
Thats all I found number wise. Is this enough for someone to tell me the exact year this block was made?
