I was wondering if anybody real could tell a difference when they installed a KN extreme lid?

Honestly I didn't..but in theory it should help get a little more air into the carb..so I bought into it.

If you have a tight hood clearance situation like on a 3rd gen it probably hurts more than it helps. Why? Because even though it is the same size on the outside, the filter pleats take up more room on the inside of the housing- getting very close to the carb inlet. It disrupts smooth airflow into the carb's bores and you end up with no improvement, or worse. I've tried it out on several vehicles and any time there is tight hood clearance it seems to cause more problems than it solves. Sorry. That's probably not what you wanted to hear.
