would this be better

i just bought a 89 iroc today has a 5 speed and rebuilt 350 with TBI on it would the TBI be better than the carb. i'm definetly putting the 5 speed in my car though.

I'm a little confused, but I assume you're going to use this new aquisition to provide parts for your current car.

It's hard to say without knowing exactly what either 350 is. Also need to know what all the TBI unit has had done to it. If the original 305 throttle body, it's restrictive - a 350 or 454 unit will fix that. And, you'd probably need to do some PROM tuning to adjust for the displacement increase unless that's already been done.

Carb will most likely not have as good of fuel economy. Overall, though, I think it makes more sense to work with what you've got, rather than making a radical change that always requires other changes (read: more money) to make it work right.

(Got plans for the TH700 when it comes out? I know a certain one-income family man 3rd-gen owner who could use one in good condition... )

plan to sell the 700r4 it has been ran through before and has had some adjustments not sure exactly what kind but it shifts like it has a shift kit. and the TBI is an origanal bone stock 305 in a89 iroc all original. the guy tried to tell me it was a rebuilt 350 and it isn't. my car has a 350 out of a 92 van i put a mild cam in it and has true duals
