electric choke

I have a 1986 T/A witha 4 barrel carb with an electric choke. I would like to know where is the relay for the choke. I put my test light on it and its dim but when i then connect it to the choke the light goes of so i ended running a stright line from the battery and it works fine. so im thinking there is a short somewhere. had anyone ran into this problem before?

Was the engine running when you did this test light thing, or did you just have the ignition on?

Did you disconnect the wire from the choke thermostat when you put the test light to the circuit?
