Intake choices for Vortec/carb

Okay, the choices for vortec style manifolds are pretty small and I am having some trouble finding the right manifold. I will be using a square-bore carb. It seems like everywhere I look someone is trashing another brand, so I am disoriented. First I hear edelbrock is garbage for performance than ya got the holley bashers, course weiand is part holley so...than come all those people. What's the low-down guys??

Engine is a 96 vortec (duh), cam, not sure exactly what it is. idle is nasty, but not a full race cam. I am thinking I want something for higher rpms, like a 1500-6500 versus the 5500 intakes.

Before i get off the crate, are these ebay manifolds worth even playing with? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2458000803 That one is a little pricey, there are some cheaper in the range of 80-150. They appear to be edelbrock copies....but i wouldn't know either way, so.

Thanks! -Mike

You really need to know what cam you've got. You need to match the intake manifold so you have a compatible "package".

The RPM Air Gap type is probably a good choice for the RPM range advertised. I don't know anything about these "Crosswind" parts. Look like the Edelbrock offerings.

I'm using the Edelbrock (nonair-gap), and it works fine. Getting over 400 HP, and it pulls hard at over 6000 RPM

I have the Edelbrock #2913 Super Victor Vortec and I am happy with the performance from it.

I'm using an Edelbrock performer RPM Intake.. when i put the motor together ago about 2 years ago... it was the only intake that actually boosted flow numbers for the heads, and the only intake my machine shop would recomend.. i still stick by that and it's really all i ever recomend to folks with those heads... the vortec, performer rpm setup has me in the 11's.. so it's gotta say something
