rebuild cost
Can someone give me a estimate on what it should cost to get a 4barrel quadrajet carb rebuilt...from an 82 z
If you take it to someone local, usually between $75-200
Now, that's assuming you have someone local that can actual CORRECTLY rebuild a Q-Jet, much less a computer controlled Q-Jet ( It's not that big of a difference, but alot of "mechanics" won't mess with 'em ).
OR you can buy a rebuilt carb and use urs as a core...figure $150-$300 depending...haven't checked in awhile, this figure might be off.
OR you can spend $40 on a good kit. Another $15 on the CORRECT tools / gauges to set up the carb, another $10 on the Doug Roe Q-Jet book ( Worth every penny ), and do it yourself.
Now if the Mixture control solenoid or the TPS needs replacing you'll have to factor those costs in...or snag replacements from a junkyard carb.
OR
Call "THE CARB SHOP" 405 733 3040 This is in OK I think. Reviews vary...I've used them with success.
I know a bunch of the Monte SS guys recommend this guy
HOTPOWERANDPERF@aol.com He's reasonable on price and has gotten really good reviews from people he's built carbs for.
