automatic choke
automatic choke
Hi, I live in the uk, i have just bought a 1984 firebird.
When she is cold and we start her up in the morning she fires up great, then sometimes the auto choke goes off after the engine has warmed up(3 or4 miles) then sometimes the choke will stay on for 10 miles or more.My question is can anybody suggest a solution to this problem, and also is it possible to convert it to a manual operated choke, either electrically or by cable
please help:lala:

Your choke is electric - at least as electric as they come.
The choke thermostat is heated by 12v power when the ignition is on. If the connection isn't solid (not uncommon), it may vary in operation.
It could also be a weak thermostat. Or jummed up linkages.
