Why do you want to sway out the carb and intake? Are you in this for performance purposes? If so, have you done anything else to the car? Exhaust? Ignition? etc...? If its a bone stock LG4, you are looking in the wrong places to start. If the carb is in fine working order, you minus well keep using it until youve got headers, full exhaust and a decent ignition. That carb should supply you with enough air (considering as how mose Q-jets flow around 750 cfm). They have very small primaries but the secondaries are very big.

If you are swapping out because you no longer WANT the q-jet, youre losing a lot of great features. I have an 85 Caprice Classic as my DD. It is powered by an LG4. Ive got an intake and a carb tha ti could slap on it. But i am not going to. I like the fact that it has altitude correction. I like the fact that it gets better MPG than my Holley. I like the fact that it tunes itself. If i were to go about making that LG4'd Caprice faster, id start with the full exhaust. And probably end up doing the carb and intake next to last.

Oh heres a good setup for you to run:
