Factory fuel pump
Will a new factory fuel pump (mechanical) for my 87 LG-4 TransAm support a 700cfm Double Pumper (no NOS) for general cruizing and street fun? Or will it starve the carb at higher rpms? I will be shifting around 6000 rpm.
I want a mechanical fuel pump that incorperates the fuel return that is why I am wondering about the factory pump. I have not seen any that will clear the frame that still have the return port. Any suggestions? Or any body using an aftermarket high performance mechanical that fits and has the return port? If so, what brand is it?
Thanx.

I ran a regular stock one for many, many years on the 400 that I had in my car. The motor had a solid cam for a while, then a XE274, then a XR282, so it wasn't exactly a stock smogger motor.... Holley 800 double-pumper carb... the fuel pump was fine.
Personally I think the factory pump is not only a good choice, but even the best choice. I see no reason to use anything else.

Wow, that's cool. That will make it so much easier for me to get a pump, I have an Edlebrock street pump but I bought it before I knew that it wouldn't fit.
I'll just get a new factory pump and be done with it... untill I decide to put the car on the bottle.
