difference between pontiac/chevy intake
i am looking to buy a new or used aftermarket intake. does anyone know if i buy a intake for a chevy small block will it fit in on my pontaic are they the same or are they diff. sometimes i see intakes that say for a pontac but usually i see chevy.
If this intake is going on your 84 pontiac, and it has the stock engine (or stock replacement), then you have a chevy engine, dont worry about it. When the bodystyle changed in 82, they used chevy engines in the pontiacs too.

Right, you do not have a Pontiac motor. The only Pontiac stuff is trim and stickers on the body.
It's a GM body, if you want to look at it that way; you could just buy it with either Chevy trim as a Camaro, or Pontiac trim as a Firebird. And the only V8 engine that it could be equipped with, from the factory, was a Chevrolet small block. The Pontiac V8 was discontinued after about 81 in ALL body styles.
