Tune non computer chip

just wondering if tuning is the same for computer chip quad-jet carbs as it is for non-computer chip ones.

Secondary side of the carb, yes. Primary side- no. Very different mechnisms. Computer controlled QJet can not be made to work acceptably without the computer.

There are two excellant books: "Rochester Carburetors" by Doug Roe, and the Haynes shop manual for Rochester carbs. Either one will take you through the operation theory and basic tuning, plus extra "tips", if required (probably not).
