Mechanical Secondaries

Hi, I've got a Rotchester 4barrel and it has mechanical secondaries aposed to vacum ones.

I was wondering if there was away to bypass the sensors and have a switch to activate the secondaries???

Thanx
Dave

On the Quadrajet (was there another Rochester 4bbl) secondary throttle blade opening is controlled by the throttle arm when the choke is open. Air flow and enrichment in the secondaries however are controlled by the opening of the secondary air valve, which makes it behave more like a vacuum secondary or other demand-based secondary design.

Thanks guys,

The Carby is a 780cfm Q-Jet, it's running on a 350chev in an 86 T/A.

I was after a way to have the secondaires open so the car get's to full power quicker when draging & stuff like that , rather than dump the pedal, the car bogs down for a second or 2 while the secondaries open, then takes off

The air valve may be adjusted to loose. The air valve is the part that actually controls the air/fuel flow for the secondaries. It is demand based not mechanical. You might want to try tightening up the spring for the air valve. I think that there is a tech article that describes how to do this.
