Question about Edelbrock 1406 carb

Hey guys, i have a question im asking on behalf of a friend.

He just recently got a edelbrock 600 cfm 1406 performer carb for his 305 LG4..... the problem is we're not too sure about a certain part that fits on. Its called a Throttle A/T cable extension. Also came with a transmission kickdown stud. Does that stud go on that lil throttle bracket? Also, where does the bracket go on the carb? Tryin to figure it out but it doesn't seem to fit anywhere.

I'm sorry if I'm too vague, I'll get more info if possible in the near future. Thanks for any responses

Is this a new or used carb? The kickdown stud goes in one of the holes at the bottom of the throttle lever in about the same position it is on the factory carb. I'm not sure what you mean by the throttle a/t cable extension or "bracket".

Closest thing I can think of is the Ford throttle lever, which obvsiously isn't needed.

Or the Mopar, but are those even included with a new carb? I thought they had to be purchased separately.

Ahh, don't need it, unless your throttle cable or TV cable is freakishly short.

I had the same problem with my Edel and TV cable... I got it to fit on the bracket but my cable is super short.

Everything works fine now, it kicks down like normal.

It feels kinda soft for having a shift kit, should i tighten it a click or two?

Before it would chirp 1-2 under 1/4 throttle but i had it rigged together with an extra wire.

Well we ran into a problem. That bracket is needed for the throttle linkages. Otherwise we don't have anyplace to put the linkage (the throttle cable needs to go somewhere on the carb obviously) We've tried rigging the bracket in attempt to get the throttle linkages to work. Just couldn't seem to do it. Push down on the pedal, and it wont pull back like its supposed to.

Anyone know what were doing wrong? Or how the linkage is setup on the edelbrock 1406 (600 CFM). He needs his car running asap and were running out of ideas. For some reason, the reading (manual) doesn't seem to be any help.

Any way you could post a picture of how you have it set up maybe?

We had a friend come over and we got the linkage setup, sorry should have posted that earlier (we got it done yesterday)

In the process though, ended up breaking the TV cable on accident. The **** on the end snapped in half when we tried to remove it. So now we either gotta remove the entire cable or try and put on a new end. Not sure what to do

You're probably better off replacing the whole cable. Whatever you do, don't drive it without the TV.

Him, a friend and I were at it and it looked hopeless. How exactly do you replace the TV cable? Does the transmission need to be opened up?
