Q-Jet questions

Ok, I posted a question about using my q-jet with an Edel performer intake a few days ago and I have more questions.

On cold start gives extremely high idle and choke doesnt seem to operate correctly, barley opens up. It SHOULD eventually open all the way, right??? Choke releys on 12V to operate right?? Damn thing wont open fully.

I'f I manually open it all the way it causes the engine to die, even with the curb idle screw turned in all the way.

Idle stays high untill the engine is warmer and then if you mash the gas it drops down to about 800-900 RPM is the lowest I can get it to idle in park.

This carb is a reman, and the directions say that nothing needs adjusting but mabey the curb idle.

For extra info, I'm an FI guy and carbs are really confusing but I can learn. I'm using a new edel intake and using NO emisions. I've looked over and over for vac leaks and even changed the carb to intake gasket with no change. I get good fuel pressure.

Thanks in advance

The choke should open all the way, eventually. If it isn't, then you might not have +12V to the carb, might have sticky linkage, or might have a weak choke coil.

Is this on a CCC Q-jet or a non-computer Qjet?

Yes, its a CCC Q-jet. Its new, or reman anyway. Even if it opened all the way the engine would not keep an idle. Starting to wonder about these reman carbs.

It wouldn't idle when the choke was opened all the way after it was warmed up?
