how do you know if its a cc carb or non-cc?

i know its a dumb question, but my mechanic unplugged a circuit going from my carb to my thermostat housing and said that it closes off the circuit so it wont get leaned out automatically and he tuned everything up manually.

my quad sucks and when i put it my 355 i want a non cc, and its either going to be holley or quadrajet.

how do you really know if its computer controlled and how its a vaccuum advance dist.

i know, i know, its a noob question but im confused.
thanks

What you described is the two stage accelerator pump circuit, found only on non-CC carbs. Pretty typical for Canadian LG4's, although I wasn't sure if that lasted through 1987, the last year of the LG4. Unplugging it didn't change anything as far as tuning goes.

The distributor will have a tin canister sticking out of the base if it is non-computer controlled. If you have a digital camera, take off the air cleaner, then get a shot of the carb & distributor from the front passenger corner of the car angle. That should give us enough detail to tell you for sure.
