650 dp on my 310?

i really want to put a double pumper on my car. i know that the 600 vs i have on the car right now is hurting performance. was planning on just putting a 600 double pumper holley p/n 4776 on, but got to thinking it may not be enough for my later plans (ie 350+). here is the questions:
would the 650 double pumper be too much for my 310?

would the 650 double pumper be enough for a 350?

basic setup on my car right now:
310ci, 9.5:1 c/r, .442"/.465" 214/224 with stock 416's, 2400 stall converter/ 700r4 and 4.10's with 28" tires.

basic setup for 350 build:
355 ci,9.72:1 c/r, Comp Cams XE 274 cam, vortech heads, 2400 stall converter/700r4 and 4.10's with 28" tires

I would go with the 650dp, it might be just a little much for the 310 but with proper tuning it should work well. It might be a little rich out of the box, you might have to jet it down a little to get it set up properly.
I think the 650DP will be perfect for your 350 setup. But I see what you are saying, you might eventually outgrow the 650...but with a fairly mild cam (XE 274) and vortec heads it won't be a high revving combo. Unless you step up to a more radical cam or end up with a stroker crank the 650 should be fine in my opinion. 650DP carbs are always in demand, it should be easy to trade or sell down the road if you think you need more carb.

A 650DP is fine for a 310 CID with 2400 stall. It will be enough to power the 350 you're talking about, too. If you think it holds the 350 back, get a Proform main body to put in it - you'll sacrifice the choke and ported vacuum, but I think you'll be able to live with it - it's not like you drive it in Chicago winters.
