charcoal cannister question

ok i found a hose when i got my engine back which wasn't connected to anything...off the top of my head its the hose looking from the nose of the car on the left and its the top smaller hose.... question is where would it go...it almost seems like it goes to the front of the carb but im not sure... it does push air and not suck and the one carb fitting that it goes to sucks. ( i know not too technical terms but im new to all this) .... so does anyone have a diagram of what hoses go where from the cannister...? or who could answer my question.... btw its a stock noncc q-jet. if needed ill take pics tomorrow during the day to help
