missing on take off
I finally built a decent motor and i'm having a few problems. I guess i will start of with my set up. It's a 357ci with flat top pistons. 64 cc tsc aluminium race heads, lt4 camshaft, accell dist, 750 edelbrock carbwith the small team g intake. the car was idling fine till you get on it then it pops out the exhust under a load fine in park. the car seems to be loading up when you take off in it then get better the more speed you pull. i have the spark plugs gaped at .045 is this too much for 10 to 1 compression. the car accelerates strong when the poping goes away. any help would be aprecciated thanks...

the easiest thing would be wire the
secondaries closed , then do tests
with various accelerator pump settings.
You might try lighter metering-rod -piston springs.
Do the easy-cheap testing, first.
also try, lean the idle mixture, tell us what happens.
Is there any chance the ignition advance is
extremely wrong?

the base timing is set at 8* with the light springs in the distributor. i have 35* of total timing if this info helps.
I suggest, first, eliminate overadvanced spark,
as a issue.
Try, for a test, reduce base advance, or put in
heavier distributor springs, and tell us what happens.
also, for a test, try removing the carb's
power piston springs. and tell us what happens.
that will put the metering rods into 'economy',
all the time.
If the carb is 'loading up', that needs to be fixed first.
as a issue.

Sounds like its going to rich on take of. It could be to rich metering rods or too big accelerator pump.
