Before I am castigated and flogged for bringing up this subject, yes I have done a search and yes I have read topics in the forum.
I have an '83 T/A that I repurchased recently. It has a non CC quadrajet on it. I recently replaced the flex plate on it and it has some sort of check engine light.
I have another CC quadrajet in my possession. Problem is, that most of the wiring is melted (from sitting on manifold) that I assume goes to the CC carb. It seems to run alright. I am thinking about returning the car back to cc status.
So I must: reinstall cc carb
find and properly hook up wiring / sensors
Change distributor? How do I know?
Something with the transmission? How do I know?
Is there a reference I can use for a visual guide for the wiring and mechanical components?
Or.....just say "screw it", tape up and/or snip the melted wires and make it look clean and run it till it develops a problem?
Just what does the computer control? Transmission?
Any factual / constructive comments appreciated.

Does it have a vacuum advance distributor on it now?
