Posible carb problems...

My car was running like crap(after firing, dieing and refusing to idle) So, i did the usual tune up, o2 sensor, dist cap, plugs wires rotor; same problem. Timing? Too rich? I havn't the slightest. Other info. Had new headers installed. I purchased the car with the smog pump removed. It sounds like it isn't firing correctly under load.

may sound stupid, but did you check your firing order?]
next I would check the float levels to make sure they weren't set to high.

Yep... the firing order is fine. all plugs have a great seat. now, this may sound stupid; i've got a decent knowledge of any carb but the quad. is there an easyu way to check the float levles?

IMHO, it sounds like a timing issue. You have verified your firing order, but are you sure all plugs are firing? After you verify this, check your timing.

Try running the carb a tad richer.

I just had a guy who supposedly owns his own shop do some work. I was busy and didnt have time. When I got home that night the check engine lite stays lit and the car runs like hell. The guy was going to adjust the carb, set the timing and install some vac lines. Havent had time to get back out and check out. Guy also is missing and has not called for his money. On the computer plug whick spot is ground and which is test.
