i've had some trouble with my choke closing while my car is cold. my dad wants to install a manual choke. i havn't taken him too seriously until he brought home a man. choke kit the other day. i want to find the prob and fix it before he gets into a "fixing mood". the carb was recently look over by a professional and it wasnt even worth rebuilding, the only good he could do was clean it and tweak it in one or two areas.

i need procedure...i dont want to miss anything. thx in advance.

 

He probably said that because there are a bazillion CC Q-jets out there in salvage yards & whatnot. Still, though, a rebuild kit is cheaper. Did the guy act like there were physical problems with the carb where it needed a new core, or it just wasn't economical?

 

it was in pretty good shape. the previous owner let it set for 2 yrs in his back yard. he left the aircleaner cover off and at some point a leaf steam got in there. that was part pf the prob he said. but i only needed cleaning and adjusted.
