1984 307 4bbl Buick HP rating

Hi guys, can anyone tell me what the HP rating of a 307 4bbl from a 1984 Buick LeSabre would be? How does that compare to an LG4 4bbl Chevy? The only reason I am curious is because I am using a 307 Qjet on an LG4 setup and I'm curious if the engines were rated similarly in the HP department.

I think they were very close. I use a q-jet from an '84 caprice I think, on my car.
Just check your main jets and rods.. (is this also a cc-qjet?)

The olds 307 is like 140 HP/255 ft/lbs for the Y vin and 180/255 for the 9 vin.

AFAIK, the 9 VIN was only found in the Olds Cutlass 442. If you got the carb from a Buick, it's almost certainly the Y VIN.

I know that he said it is a Y Vin and not to get off topic, but thats not exactly correct. Vehicles with the tow package got the 9 Vin as well. I had a Cadillac with the 9 Vin 307, 2004r and 3.42:1 gears with a factory trailer hitch on it(Grandpa liked to go fishing). I also have a Y vin 307, 2004R, with 2.53 gears in a similar vintage Cadillac (1988). The 9 Vin had remarkeably better low-speed acceleration, but the Y Vin would get better much better mileage (27 highway).

Ok I don't really need 307 history, thanks though. The 307 was one of those motors that was awful no matter what trim it was in. I was just curious how much more it sucked than the already awful LG4 305 so I had some indication of whether the carbs would be similar.

I know, but I hate when something is posted as fact, when it is not. The 307may suck, but the 9 would rip a LG4, both being stock. The Y-vin carb was typically setup VERY lean to correspond with the swirl port heads on the 307 (don't remember if they were using them in 1984 or not).

Fast, thanks! That's actually very good info. I didn't realize the 307 had the awful swirly heads. The carb is really really lean, I am going to have to get the LG4 carb.
