Electric fuel pump + carb guys

How do you have your fuel system hooked up? I have the E-pump in the tank, running a feed and return. I have a T fitting in the lines up front, feed line going into pressure regulator and the return line before the regulator to pump access pressurized fuel back into tank. I cant get a good idle and its got to be fuel problem. I put a gauge on the feed with 5 pounds of pressure and it reads nothing. I put the gauge before the regulator and reads nothing. I dont think im pumping much into tank and loosing all pressure because weve pinched the line and there is no increase of pressure.

You need to run a return style regulator. If you do a search there is a mallory unit alot of carbed guys run that works well. The return line will come of the regulator, and only bypass uneeded fuel. It sounds like all your fuel is being pumped back to the tank with your current setup.

Yup. I ageee. I have the mallory 4309. or something like that, I order it last year for my Iroc. It had a 305 TPI in it. I then put a 350 carbed in it. Then this year I put in a 500 HP 383 stroker. Removed all of the TPI and hooked up the regulator. its adjustable too. IS your fuel pump kicking on? BC I had that problem and I had to rewire my Fuel Pump.

that mallory regulator would never maintain consistant fuel pressure.....it varied by 4-5 psi on me.......get a good aeromotive return style regulator and be done with it

ACTUALLY, you DON'T need a return style regulator. You can set up the regular holley regulator as a return style. Let me know if you want me to explain it, I can upload some pics of how I have it set up too. I'm running the stock tbi fuel pump feeding a 400hp motor using the standard holley regulator as a return style regulator.

This won't work if you have the high pressure TPI fuel pump in your tank. You'd have to put in a tbi for it to work right.

Also, if you pinched off any return line, and you still get no fuel... sounds like a bad/ not hooked up right fuel pump to me.

It is the TPI pump so I guess that cancels it out for me. Today were going to put in a choke valve on the return line and see if we can get constant pressure
