Quick choke/idle question
I have a 4bbl quadrajet carb on my 305 camaro. I seem to be having problems with the idle. It would appear that the fast idle cam is sticking. When i push the fast idle cam down when it's warm it kicks the idle off but when i hit the gas, the fast idle cam comes back up and sticks at causing the fast idle to kick in. Also when I increase the fast idle, the fast idle cam seems like it's grinding on something. i have tried to clean it out with LPS fluid and Wd-40. i was just wondering if it is supposed to move freely all the time if i move it with my finger or if it is supposed to stick because when it sticks it never seems to come off fast idle. Also there seems to be something stuck to the side of the fast idle cam jw if it was supposed ot be there. I was thinking maybe it just needed to be taken apart and given a good cleaning. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. If i were to take it apart how would i go about doing that. The choke thermostat still has rivets on it.

Sounds like you have a choke thermostat problem. You have to drill out those pop rivets, some kits have replacement pop rivets, some have self-tapping screws. Either one works (if you have a pop rivet gun), but I like the screws better.
Make sure you're getting 12 volts to the thermostat. If it isn't getting full voltage, it won't release completely.

checked voltage
Thanks. Checked the voltage and everything seems to be fine getting 12v to the thermostat.
