Fuel Pump....Ok is this ok?

Just got through instaling a 350 in a 89RS, I got the car really cheap, had no engine or tranny, anyway got the 350 in (wiring was a mess) the fuel pump would only work once the key was turned on...then quit...so I found the oil pressure sensor conections, (had 3 wires) I can jump the two that operate the fuel pump and it runs just fine....

My thought is to run the Tan wire to the Oil pressure sensor and take the fuel pump wire to the coil, (hot wire in the conector to be blocked).

any problems with this setup?

Ken

Yes, if I understand what you're saying, you're by-passing an important safety feature.

The pump is only supposed to run for a few seconds after the ignition is turned on - that's the function of a timed relay. After that, the pump is not supposed to run unless the engine is running - hence the oil pressure switch.

Leave it the way it is supposed to be. Use an oil pressure switch for the oil pressure sensor connections.
