fuel pump rod question. (probably dumb)

Engine: 305 (LG4)

Transmission: THM700R4

Axle/Gears: 10 bolt, 3.23 non-LS

fuel pump rod question. (probably dumb)

Does the rod that drives the mechanical fuel pump have any kind of "lifter" on it or does it ride directly on the cam?
