I am in that process right now and am kinda wondering the same thing but I am not sure yet I will know here in a week or so when I have a chance to work on the car. I am thinking yes I am going to have to go to an aftermarket cable but not really sure. There is someone that sells kits for swaps like that but I cannot remember the name we have bought stuff like that for cars that we have done at the shop but I will have to look on who makes them.

Find carb cables. Not too hard to do. Or, TBI are also shorter than TPI and can be made to work.

To go with your new cables, I'm running holley's 700r4 tv corrector bracket and throttle brackets on my 650 DP.

if you're running an edelbrock, i'd also suggest the tv bracket. wish i had known of them sooner... probably could have saved my 700 a lot of undue stress.

Holley Numbers

Part Number are 20-95 Kickdown Lever GM 700R4 AOD
and then Holley # 20-121 Overdrive Kickdown Bracket to be used in
conjunction with / 20-95.....they work rather nice and you get corrected
fitment of cables...
