help plz
i have an 84 camaro 305. gna be putting on an edelbrock 600cfm carb with vaccum advance dist. what do i set my timing at? stock settings or do i got to advance the timing? also my rear heaer tube passenger side is glowing red. wtf would cause that? thanks

Axle/Gears: 12B-3.73/9"-3.89
Set the initial timing, vacuum advance disconnected, at 8-12 degrees before top dead center. Where exactly depends upon where it runs best.
Glowing headers are either from: extreme load (not likely in your case); lean mixture; leaking exhaust valve. Since only one tube is glowing (at least from your description), leaking exhaust valve would be the most likely.
Any particular reason you're going to an Edelbrock carb and vacuum/mechanical advance distributor? Unless your original carb is FUBAR, you aren't going to see any power increase - probably will see an economy decrease, and possible even a power decrease.

you will get a power loss at WOT because youre trading thoes giant secondarys for normal ones.

em because i tryed another quadrajet 800cfm and it kept flooding out. and i still have the computer in my car so went to vaccum advance
