I have been debating on a new carb to by for my 83 z28 and I think I have decided to go with a holley 650 dp 4777c and put an electric choke kit on it. Would this be an alright match for my stock 350. Right now I have a non cc q-jet and a 350 turbo tranny that is 3 speed auto I beleive.
My ?'s are:
1. Are double pumpers alright for auto trannys I have read that they are for manuals so I am not sure.
2. Will I need to get any other brackets or anything to get the carb to work with all the stock linkages
3. Also If I have a non cc q-jet is it vaccum or mechanical secondaries becuase the dp is mechanical and Will I need to do anything for this....

For street driving with the occasional trip to the track you will be better off with vac. secondaries-----especialy if your running a mild/street camshaft. As far as I know ALL Q-bogs are vac. sec. . A good baseplate mounted return spring and cable bracket will be in order---and clean up yer look greatly. Wise choice to go with a Holley over anything else other than FI....and Holley has GREAT choices in that arena also....just $$$$ http://www.holley.com/0-80670.asp $379.99 @ jegs

650 dp would be fine for the engine. In the future if the motor mods grew you could swap on a proform mainbody and turn the carb into a 750 dp essentially. I'd go that route. You'll need the typical off the shelf carb linkage kit for the throttle cable and kickdown cable that any speed shop should stock. IIRC the cheaper ones are $15 or so.
So all I would need then is the throttle cable bracket part# 20-88....
