Q-jet Accelerator pump question?
I was in the process of rebuilding my Q-jet last night (E4ME 1985 camaro) and the accelerator pump had four small tabs that held the gasket and spring in place. Well, two of them were broke off and stuck in the return spring. When I went to pull the old gasket and spring off, the other two tabs broke off. My question is, will the pump return spring hold the gasket/spring in place, or should I replace the entire accelerator pump?
Any help on the topic would be great!

You've lost me. Can you post a picture of what you're talking about?

I also have no idea what you're talking about. Nothing holds the acc pump in place, that's what makes it such a pain to put the air horn back on these carbs.

Re: Q-jet Accelerator pump question?
I think i know what he means. I was swappingout the jets in mine last night coincidentially, so this comes to mind.
The plunger has a coiled spring at the bottom, and a rubber gasket type thing that creates the seal as the plunger dips down. Whatever held that spring in place has probably popped out. My question is, how did you break that?
I cant find my spare pump, so i cant take a pic. sorry.

Re: Q-jet Accelerator pump question?
Sorry, I gave my camera's memory card to my mother to take to country fest. Any way, the best I could describe it is normally there is a lip near the bottom of the accelerator pump to hold the donut looking spring/seal in place. Mine had four pedals that were close to the width of the seal. Two of them were broke off and stuck in the pump return spring. The other two I broke off when trying to take the old seal off.
At any rate, I ordered a new accelerator pump and did a temp fix with the old one by using an "O" ring to keep the spring/seal in place. When I change the old pump, I'll snap a picture of the old one.
Thanks!!!

Re: Q-jet Accelerator pump question?
oh ok. Yea, a new pump is cheap. They come in all rebuild kits ( that I know of), so you should have one in the kit.
