Is there a stock electric pump sender that will fit an 83 carb'd gas tank?
Hi guys, I have a 1983 Firebird that is carbureted, but I am swapping to an
LT1 camshaft that does not have the mechanical fuel pump lobe. I would prefer not to run a [noisy] inline fuel pump.
Did any carbureted 3rd gens get an electric intank fuel sender/pump assy? If not, will the TBI low pressure electric intank fuel sender/pump drop into the 1983 tank? Was the TBI tank baffled? I figure baffles won't be that important since I am still running a carb w/ a float bowl. I am even running a multiport EFI setup w/ no baffles in an old 2nd gen fuel tank in another car, and it does not give me any problems until there is less than 1/4 tank.
If all else fails I will look for a high quality (ie. NOT HOLLEY) inline fuel pump. I am using a Walbro 255 LPH inline pump for my EFI'd car and it is silent.

'87 carb'd V8 cars got the electric in-tank. Any in-tank electric pick-up will fit the tank. I don't know details, but I understand baffling changed.

Okay, thank you for the info! We will drop in an electric pump. I am not worried about the baffling w/ a carbed car since the float bowl is the reserve. Most hot rod muscle car guys are running inline electric pumps with no baffles in the tank and they don't have problems, even with the inline pump being so far from the tank. The optimal thing to do would be for me to just find a junkyard carbed 87 and take the whole tank and drop it in. I'll try--
