computer controlled carburetor quastion

i've looked for a while now but can't seem to find any posts that adress this. I have an '84 Trans Am that i replaced the 305 H.O. w/ a 350 chevy that was originaly built to run circle track about 5 years ago (mildly worked). I live in New Jersey and would like to keep all the emissions intact. I would like to upgrade from the stock 500 cfm quadrajet, but can't seem to find any other carburetors that are computer controlled. I would rather not go through the trouble to convert to non computer controlled. Does anyone know any cc carburetors that would be better than the stock quadrajet. I found the tech article on peformance tuning for the stock carb. Is this worth doing or are there better options.

Re: computer controlled carburetor quastion

The stock quadrajet can be made to flow more air. "Stock our carbs are limited to about 600cfm total airflow due to a tab that prevents the AV from opening fully. However, our throttle bores will support 750 cfm, once the AV is allowed to open fully."

Read this page thoroughly, especially the "Increasing Airflow in Camaros and Firebirds" part.

Re: computer controlled carburetor quastion

i dont know exactly whats been done to the engine, but good luck passing NJ emissions. as for the carb, rejetting it will make it leaner/richer, and will not affact the CFM of airflow. Holley makes some emissions legal 650cfm models to replace the quadrajet, but i think they only replace the older models, up to 81 or something like that, and they're not cc.
