Does Oil Prssure Sender need to be hooked up to start LG4?
I just bought an '85 TA, that has an 305 Carbed LG4 in it, can't get it started, have spark, and engine does turn over, but won't run, even with stater fluid. I have noticed that there is no wire attached to the Oil Pressure sender.
On my other TA's, 305 and 350 TPI's the Oil Pressure Sender serves as a secondary way for the the fuel pump to energize, if the fuel pump relay fails, and the ECM detects Oil pressure, via the Oil Pressure sender.
Anyhow this is my first LG4 car, and I have'nt seen a Carb in 20 years.
Anybody know if my Oil Pressure Sender wire is necessarry for car to start?

Your LG4 uses an old-school block-mounted mechanical fuel pump.

You are not getting ignition power. Test the voltage at your distributor on the portion that says "BATT" if that is good then your coil is shot.

Well you need Air, Fuel or Spark.
You think you have an electric pump, which is not the case so fuel is most likely not the problem Especialy since you used starter fluid. You have a carb, which is left relatively clean should supply the air.
Looks like spark is the only thing left.
My opinion still stands. I think you are not getting power to the distributor or your coil is bad.
It is possible that your distributor is jacked. Take the cap off the distributor and make sure the rotor is intact. Remove the rotor and make sure the rotor button is not smashed worn etc. Look under the cap itself and make sure the contacts are not arcing and sparking like crazy.
