distributor modification
i want to limit the amount of mechanical advance available in the distributor. I know you can weld up the slots to do this. Is an epoxy like JB weld safe to use instead? I have access to a welder, but its a crappy chinese flux core one.
Thanks

Re: distributor modification
just take it somewhere and have it welded up, don't use JB weld on it.

Re: distributor modification
I want to run 32-34 total mechanical timing, but i can't run much more than 12 initial right now and stay within that range with the junkyard hei i have. I mainly want to do it just to try it and see if the car likes running more inital.

Re: distributor modification
to just "try" it, you can use a zip tie in the slot to take up some of the slack, but most carb motors want more initial once you put a bigger cam in them. Otherwise just have some spot welds put on the slot to limit advance.
