Hello Everyone,

I own a 1989 Chevy Camaro IROC-Z with all the bells and whitles, cept for dual cats g92 and 1le rpos. it also has t-tops as well. i love this car i really do. but i have worked on carb motors most of my life and when i look at the TPI set up its like im looking at an alien ship lol. the car has 109k miles on it and its already spittin codes at me and honestly i dont wanna deal with it. I have done a tbi to carb swap on my 89 RS 305 but i wasnt able to drive it long before the tranny gave out so i wasnt able to have fun with it. I been looking at these top-end kits summit has that has everything cept for carb and valve covers and i was curious about somthing. if i was to go with the vortec style heads and intake and have a 650 cfm carb with the cam (2208 edelbrock) should this be a really good combo for street use or is the torque gonna make it usless for street driving (peak tor advertise is 408 at 4k rpms)

Im also going to do a t-56 swap and change the rear gears in it as well, not sure if i ought to go with 355 or 373.

any help would be greatly thanked for.

im in afghan still so it may take me a while to check out the message board

thanks, John

That would work well, but it would really be simpler and easier just to fix whatever's wrong with the TPI.

I feel the same way man, I'd swap my TPI out for a carb in a second if I had the budget, friggen computer **** is a PITA to deal with. I would swap the intake, and throw on a carb, and change the dist. If your putting in the t-56 go with 4.10s, yes 410s!! That t56s got a .50 6th gear and with 4.10s you can cruise like 70 at 2000 rpms.
