***** Fuel issue*****

I have an 84 Camaro with a 350 swap that idles perfect. Recently I have noticed a heavy gas smell after I park it in the garage and it bogs under heavy acceleration. At first I checked the plugs and they are good. What baffles me is that it bogs only sometimes. As I was checking everything I noticed that the fuel filter had barely any fuel in it when running and when I revved the engine up it slowly bubbled in as if it was pumping air. Could it be a crack in the gas tank pick up tube, but why would I smell raw gas?

When the engine is running, it sucks air. When not running, it drips fuel.

Not saying that's what's causing your problem, but that would explain how those two could be linked.
