Re: what carb

what gearing and stall do you have....auto or manual? Q-jet won't fit that manifold without an adapter, edelbrock or holley will fit because of the square flange where as the q jet is spreadbore...maybe a 750 holley or edelbrock w/vacuum secondaries, no double pumpers(engine won't pick up rpm enough with those heads), a 650cfm will give you more throttle response and mileage. but the 750 should be a little more powerfull

Re: what carb

im sorry i left out that info. i have a 5 speed in the car now and for the gearing im about to buy a 02 ss camaro rear end with 3.73 gears for 225 dollars so i can get rid of my 9 bolt with 2.73 or 2.77 gears. and i already have a adapter for that intake for a q jet i just need a new carb cause the one im running it with now is just a old piece of junk q jet

Re: what carb

the engine probably won't have enough power to pick up rpm using a DP, not with stock style heads especially.....go with vacuum secondaries.....
DID YOU SAY 9-BOLT REAR END....that is a rare borg-warner rear end...your better off doing a gear swap into the 9 bolt as it's a bigger ring gear and a lot stronger....double check and count the bolts on the rear end make sure it's a nine bolt...if you do swap for the ss rear end, post that 9-bolt and someone, maybe me, will buy it from you.

Re: what carb

im positive its a 9 bolt, its the 2.77 or 2.73 gearing i know that for sure to, i would put new gears into it but i dont want to spend the money on it and dont want to do it myself. make me a offer for the 9 bolt and il think about it. but i thought that i needed mechanical secondarys since i have a 5 speed. ive been really thinking about a q jet rebuilt from summit.
