A few carb questions

A few questions. First off, how does a Q-jet carb compare to an Edelbrock performer 1406? MPG? How much MPG difference roughly? Power? I've been searching the net but can't find much. I've got a Q-jet already but it leaks gas. I took it to a mechanic to rebuild it and it still leaks. I'm considering just buying an Edelbrock carb rather than trying to find what is wrong with the Q-jet. BTW, the carb will be bolted onto a pretty much stock LG4, (aftermarket exhaust and cold air intake are the only mods so far). Also, are there different carbs for automatic cars vs manual cars? I've found a 1406 on ebay but I'm not sure if there is a feature I should be looking for on the carb for my auto tranny.

Re: A few carb questions

I'd take the q-jet back to the guy you paid to rebuild it. Unless he did it for free, it's his responcibility, I'd defently do that before shelling out money for a new carb. The q-jet is going to be better on gas with its small primaries and you won't see any noticeable increase in power by just swapping carbs on an otherwise stock setup.
