Holley vac 750

Alright, this is for the know it carb guys. I just got a carb from a friend on a trade, it is what looks like a 750, vac sec. The seller for me was the boosters, they are a down leg booster, so it tells me the carb might be better than your usual straight leg carb. It has the rear metering block also, unlike most stocker big block 750s that are non adjustable. So, any thoughts on the carb? I do not have a stamping on the main body, but the fact that it has a choke on it, makes me think it is not anything that special. I am going to remove the choke anyway for the bigger motor it will be going on and i am pretty good at cold tuning without a choke. I figgure it is better than your average vac 750.

If it has a choke on it, the "LIST" number is stamped on the front of the choke tower. Get that information, it should lend insight into what exactly it is. My guess would be an old 3310.

Correct, it is a 3310, but i did not know if any that had the downleg booster and the rear metering block to adjust the jetting. What do you think? Somone did this or is it a few and far between factory piece?

The first run of those carbs had both (the 3310, or 3310-1) downleg boosters and the rear metering block. Every one since had straight boosters and a metering plate. I had one of those good early ones but sold it - wish I still had it.

What Adam said. The earlier models sometimes had better features than the later ones.

Re: Holley vac 750

Ok, thanks for the info fellas, i have never seen a stocker like this. I scored it for a parts swap but it need total rebuild and allot of cleaning to get all the old gasket material but i think it will be worth it. Looks like the old carb will be going on my 95 Z when the SBC swap is done and this new one will go on the 89.
