Tunnel Ram on 305

I have a Edelbrock TR1 tunnel ram with two 450cfm holleys and have had thoughts of mounting it to my camaros 305 engine... i know what your thinking already. lol. My 305 has been rebuilt once but wasnt modified any. A high volume oil pump went in, the throttle body injection was replaced by a four barrel intake and Edelbrock 600cfm carb, Accel super coil distributor, Hooker headers, and a hotter plug. The crank, rods, pistons, roller cam, and heads are stock. Though new bearings and rings were installed. So knowing all of that... Will my 305 run with the dual quads? I am not building a performance engine. I dont even have plans on opening the four barrels. Im just got my DL back. i have to walk a fine line. So I know I'll loose torque with the tunnel ram. I only drive this car to work or to go to the store. Will I be able to lean out the fuel if I spend some time playing with the carbs?

You've already got a daily driver carb set-up. Why are you even thinking about a tunnel ram?

Re: Tunnel Ram on 305

for the looks mostly...i have a truck for bad weather so thats not a issue. dont see many third gens with the engine though the hood... the one you do see are striped of interior and at the drag strip.

the biggest thing is i really want a performance car but by building the engine would give me problems. thats like throwing a big, juicey T-bone steak and tellin the dog it cant eat it.... so for me i want the look without beefing the engine

Re: Tunnel Ram on 305

Get the idea out of your head because it'll be just one big headache with a bone stock engine. They're not even that great on a mild 350. Buddy of mine switch from a tunnel ram to a single carb and victor jr intake; driveability was better plus it was quicker in the 1/4 mile.
