not feeling the power...

Dealing with an '85 Iroc Z28 with a 350, Holley 750 Carb, and a 700R4 w/a Hurst shift kit (auto one side, slapshift other side). I recently posted in the wrong board about loss of power, come to find out, the guy that did the timing on it the first time didn't have it timed AT ALL. so the loss of power at high rpm's is gone. However now I come across the feeling it part. when i run the automatic through the gears i can feel a little bit, but not much. When i run the slapshift i have a great pull off the line but when i slap to 2nd, it don't shift, same with 3rd. Now i'm not a genius on slapshift, but I thought the purpose of that was so you could keep your foot into it without having to let off for a clutch... is this true or do i still need to back off the gas to let it hit 2nd and on....?? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated and I will try anything... didn't do anything to it yet cause most people on here seem to know their crap so i'm turning to ya'll for the help...

Thanx in Advance,
The Cable Guy

I guess I'm not seeing from your description where this is a carburetor problem.

Re: not feeling the power...

you can stay on it and slap the gears, i do it all the time, leaving rubber in 2nd and 3rd....i dont know why it wouldnt shift when you put it in the rachet gate, i got a b&m rachet shifter, never used a hurst dual gate

a mod will prob move this post for you to the right board
