Re: Please help me

That carb is a computer controlled E4ME. I can see the connections to the mixture control solenoid and the TPS.

The green wire is for the electric choke (you can see where it connects just below to the left.)

Its common for the plastic that covers the connectors on the choke wire to become brittle, fall apart, and then the wire falls off easily when you are working on the carb. Just have to be careful to make sure its back on after you're done working on it.

After you get your new carb, make sure you set the TPS properly, or your new carb may not idle or run quite right.

Re: Please help me

Dude at the car parts place told me the same thing about it already being set from the factory, only thing is, when these carbs go in for rebuild, they set them up to be used on a whole series of "similar" cars. One day while massively bored.... and frustrated that the engine wasn't running as well as I'd thought it should after shelling out over $300 bucks for a new carb... I copied all the numbers off the carb and searched them. Eventually I found that mine had started life as a carb for a Buick or Olds. Can't remember which. Same size engine, but not quite the same set up.

For the wire -
I couldn't find a new connector (hadn't really put much effort into it really) I just make sure its on there right when I put my air cleaner back on.

For the TPS -
When you install the carb and set the idle you are supposed to confirm the voltage between the middle and lower wires on the TPS plug. Its the plug on the upper right front of the carb. I just pushed my voltmeter probes in from the back of the plug.

With the engine running at the "curb idle" RPM listed on your Emissions sticker, the TPS should read within + or - .05v from whatever the voltage is supposed to be for your year and make. (My 1984 L69 is supposed to be .48v +/-.05v at 700rpm).

It took me a while as mine was WAY off. I had to tune it in, then reset the idle, then once I had it set, I had to confirm my timing was still right.

Took a while, but man did it start and run better once I was done

Good luck, hopefully yours will be good to go right out of the box, as the TPS adjustment screw is a PITA to get to and adjust.

If you end up needing to adjust it, I'll talk you through how I did it.
