ok i got a motor that was rebuilt it sat for a while so we broke it done got to it hottanked and stuff my question is it has an 850 cfm double pumper holley carb on it and we smelled alot of gas in the oilll i know this isnt good what size should i use on a 355 with foreged(sp) pistons??? or should i get smaller jets?

 

850cfm Holley DP on a 355? Wow, that sounds like way too big of a carb. Is this a blown motor or high RPM setup? Most mild 350's would be fine with 600-650cfm.

Gas in the oil is caused by poor ring seal or operating without a PCV valve if I'm not mistaken.

 

Changing the jet size will only tune the air/fuel ratio. 750 cfm would probable be the best size, but can't say for sure without knowing more about your parts combo.

 

i dont know anything about the motor... i got with my camaro it has toker intake. cwc cam, .030 pistons 1.5 roller rockers comp cam. comp cam push rods and springs for the heads... soild liters ....

 

Solid lifters? Do you mean flat tappet, non-roller lifters? Or, are you sure they are solid lifters?

Sounds like it was built for high RPMs. Or, at least they thought they were building it for high RPMs.

 

how would u tell on the lifters? i was told they were soild lifters....
