my fuel pump has been having issues for a while now and has finally decided to call it quits. it was a facorty joint and did the job but now that its quit ive decided to beef it up a bit. i was looking into an aeromotive unit or something along those lines. i mentioned this to a friend the other day and he said to go with a holley blue. i checked out craigslist and sure enough someone has a holley blue for sale locally new in the box. the price is right so i think im gonna hop on it. i did a search through thirdgen and came up with comments both good and bad about this product. so id like to get some other opinions if you have run or know someone that has run this unit. ive also done some research on how to do this. i picked up a hanyes manual and checked out a couple sites but no one has a step by step posted on how to install this or where to mount it. i know something like this is preference but there has to be some logic behind why you would mount it in a certain location. are there any other parts i would need to complete this job? any tricks you guys have? pictures would be nice. im new to this and dont know everything (even though i feel like ive spent the last 2 weeks one this site) so a visual would help alot. thanks alot!

what do you have now, a mechanical pump or an electric one?

as far as mounting locations, and electric pump is better at pushing fuel that pulling it. You want to mount it as low and as close to the tank as possible without having it near heat or hanging too low and hitting road debris.

You will have to remove the factory intank pump, if thats what you have, and replace that section with a piece of hose connecting to the sock filter.

Then you have to wire it, the factory wiring is generally too small, so running a new feed wire is a good idea.
after that, a good pressure regulator.

holley blue or black work well for carb apps because they are low pressure pumps.

Im using an areomotive a1000 pump, a tad overkill right now, but i would rather overdo somethings that have to do them twice.

 

i currently have the stock fuel pump. if i get this holley blue and build my motor is this something i will have to replace in the future? as i add or replace parts i want to upgrade so that i dont have to do it again in the future. i saw a wiring kit from jegs for around 25 dollars and planned on picking that up. the holley blue comes with a regulator. is it any good?> i already have one in the car and im sure its fine but if the holley is better then i might just switch it out. if you have any pictures of one you have id like to take a look. thanks for the help.

 

one more question... should i keep the stock fuel lines or replace them? if i replace them should i go bigger? everything on this car is backwards so i wouldnt be surprised if they wernt the right size. what size should they be to and from the pump? thanks again for the help.
