CARB swap and coolant lines (help)
Did a tpi to carb swap. And having some cooling problems. The car has a 4 core allumium radiator, dual electric fans. It doesn't have a thermostat.
The only coolant line I left was just from the radiator to the intake. And the hose on the bottom of the radiator. The car is getting about 250 after about 15 minutes of running. With the temp gun the radiator is about 140, the heads read about 260.
the coolant lines I cap'ed on the side of the block have anything to do with these issues? I have read a few things about bypassing them.
Any help would be appriciated.

There are lots of mixed reviews on this, but you need a thermostat. The antifreeze needs time to stay still in the radiator to cool it. If the water flows freely the radiator can not dissipate the heat

I will throw a t stat in it and see what happens, I was also running straight race fuel for a while and had the timing pretty high. Ill lower that back down and fill it up with 91.
What about the coolant lines I just crimped off, I read somewhere that they might need to be bypass'ed?

Put a t-stat in it and back the timing down. (depending on what is is set at)
Make sure the fans are kicking in. If carb, you only need the upper and lower raidiator hoses hooked up. Your heater wont work, but thats all the motor needs.

ya its a carbed 355, victor jr intake, 750dp and so on... fully built basically. the fans are definalty kicking in.
its not rocket science, i have a big radiator, dual fans, there is no reason it should be running as hot as it does. think it could be the water pump?
