Tuning in Florida
Any one know of a place or any one who can tune in south florida.
I have a 89 iroc i cant seem to get it right i am running 13.6 with it falling on its face on launch and then popping down the track. on my launch i have flames that shoot back out the carb then it takes off and starts to pop i have gone threw 3 different plugs ran the timing at 4 degrees knocked it up 1 degrees at a time to get it at 10 where it runs the best but just cant seem to get it to run right and the carb is running a little rich so and help would be much appreciated. The whole top end is new from heads being worked cam intake headers ext. just know it has more then what it gives right now 60 foot was 2.7 at 107 mph 13.601 1/4 time

Re: Tuning in Florida
Have you checked the plug wires for continuity? Have you checked and rechecked and checked again the firing order? Have you made really really sure the plug wires are on the plugs and the distributor securely? Are you absolutely sure your on #1 TDC on the compression stroke?

Re: Tuning in Florida
are you sure your valve springs are matched to the cam? are all the passages in the carb clean? timing chain installed correctly???? plugs fouled? what kind (and size) carb?
sure sounds like a timing issue to me. an advance weight sticking? or a floating valve issue combined with an accelerator pump problem? vacuum leak?
i think we need to know a lot more about your combo to figure this one out, but popping thru the carb is a sure sign of a timing problem.

Re: Tuning in Florida
the cam and springs match the heads have a light port and polish done to match the headers the carb is a summit street and strip 750 with vacuum advance secondary. running R43ts AC Delco plugs cause i have a 125 shot also that i am afraid to hit with it running like that all the wires plugs and point are good i have checked over them five times now. no fuel leaks gaskets are good. car starts right up and idles fine runs great at 1/4 throttle but the second i nail it runs like crap.i drove it 100 miles 1/4 throttle plugs looked great and every thing when i got down to the track and beat it it fell on its face i have not pulled the plugs back out to see what they look like prob do that on Thursday i have off work.Just pulled all the plugs they are a light brown but for the most part they look brand new still
