How do I remove my A.I.R. system? 1987 305 QJET

How do I remove my A.I.R. system? 1987 305 QJET

removing my air system and a/c. lots of lines and stuff for air coming of head near exhaust manifold and just dont know what to remove where and what it will affect. pump was not hooked up anyways. doing timing so i thought it was a good time to clean up engine bay

Yes, you can remove everything and it won't affect anything except emissions. Remember to plug the fittings where the hoses hook onto the air distribution logs on each exhaust manifold (it can and often does leak, even past the check valves) and the one going down to the cat.

Don't try to unscrew the little individual air tube fittings from the manifolds unless you want to remove the manifolds from the car. They are often just about welded in place from years of rust and hot/cold cycles.

I'd give them a shot; mine broke loose easily enough, yours may to. try PB blaster or the like to try and help the process, and if they don't come off with that, THEN I wouldn't bother removing them for the time being. but it's still worth a shot; really cleans the visual aspect of the engine bay up.

What would really help you do this is a set of headers. when i installed mine i removed so much CRAP you could actually see the engine. not to mention the performance i gained over those POS exhaust manifolds.

Hell mine fell of on the driver side, i've been driving with it uattached for probably 6 months now. Sounds weird when it pumps the air.
