The skinny: getting my holley St. Avenger rebuilt this week and need to know what size jets to run. Just bought a jet kit with sizes ranging from 64-99. Car is a 2 bolt main 350 .040 over, vac. advance/secondaires, 10.5:1 spd pro pistons, comp 365 XFI cam, sportsman II heads weiand intake full exhaust, 700-R4 with 2800 conv. and stock V6 3.23's and a 1 wheel peel diff (until i get that posi outta storage an in the rear-end)

Thanks for the input guys!!!

Re: Jet sizes?

If it were me, I would find out what the carb had stock (from Holley) and put those jets in it...and also the same PV and pump cam, shooters, etc. Best to start from stock. You may not need to change much. Get the timing squared away BEFORE you touch the carb settings. I am guessing you will need 16* base and 36* total (all in by 2800RPM). Hopefully you have vacuum advance on the dist. also.

Re: Jet sizes?

Agreed. Start from stock to get a baseline and tune from there. AND TAKE NOTES! Even the sharpest mind can forget after a few jet, squirter and power valve changes. Add in air bleed changes and you better get an Excel spreadsheet ready.

In the old days people used to write the jet number on the outside of the bowl with a grease pencil so they wouldn't have to remember what the last set of jets they put in it was. Still a valid trick if you make changes only on the weekends when you go racing.

Boy don't I now know this. Listen to the man! I made up this sheet. Print up 10 or so and write away. Keep 'em right in the car.
