MSD STREET FIRE HEI............. OR PERTRONIX HEI COMBO 1R (INCLUDES IGNITION BOX)

I want the MSD, but the Pertronix is mutiple spark... but I rather have the MSD, but my question is will I need a ignition box? I read up and found out the MSD is only one wire hookup....

Make sure the distributor gear is compatible with your camshaft. I went with the GM performance HEI with the melonized gear (compatible with my roller cam). I am happy with it for the price.

Look on Ebay. You can get a new ProComp complete HEI distributor for about $50. That's what I run and have had zero problems.

stay away from the pro comp distributors. many people have had problems with them over time. i replaced mine with a msd distributor and it runs way better.

I agree.

Except, mine was even cheaper than a procomp, when I swapped to an MSD.
