82-85 carb???

82-85 carb???

Hey guys i have a 84 berlinetta and my carb has a computer with it that abjust the air/fuel mixture. When i upgrade to a 2 level q-jet and heads and cam will i need to get a chip.

As long as you have a mechanical fuel pump you can put any carburetor you want on your car. The only thing that might happen is the check engine light might come on but that is an easy fix, just remove the bulb. I just swapped out my stock carb on my 87 and went with an Edelbrock and it runs fine.

Clone, I'd advise you ignore that advice. Complete waste of money, IMO.

A chip might help the car to run a little better, but you won't "need" it. The chip may also have such an aggressive timing curve that you will have to use premium gas exclusively. The key is picking a proper cam to work with the computer (primarily the O2 sensor at low RPMs).
